HUSBANDRY

As each new season progresses we must follow a detailed plan that requires frequent operations in our plantations, assuring a large number of jobs:

  • A continuous control of the native vegetation is required to avoid strong competition with the coffee plants, and at the same time assuring that the soil is kept covered to adequately preserve its micro flora and micro fauna;

  • A careful control of erosion is constantly exerted at all fields to preserve our rich soils and to minimize the environmental impact of the plantation. We also constantly protect our forest reserve areas as well the permanent preservation areas, which are protected by the comprehensive Brazilian environmental legislation;

  • The nutrients taken form the soil by the coffee trees for their development are replenished in the form of chemical fertilizers and of organic compost, maintaining the high natural fertility of our soils.
