The Coffee Friends Project has the support of the North American coffee roasting company The Roasterie of Kansas City, the participation of Italian roasters, coordinated by our representative in Italy, Sandalj Trading Co., and the Germany company Hagen Kaffee and Japanese company Toa Coffee.

FERMENTO NA MASSA ASSOCIATION - ADDING YEAST TO THE DOUGH TO HELP IT GROW |
The Fermento na Massa Association, AFM, is a local NGO created to support the social works of the Parish of Saint Peter in Alfenas - MG, whose goal is to work for the human promotion in many areas with the motto "small actions that make a big difference".
The work developed by Fermento na Massa encompasses:
- TV course - first and second grades - a course for adults that had no opportunity to study. In 5 years it has been attended by more than 2000 people.
- Computer course - A project to reduce digital exclusion, by providing basic computer knowledge to low income members of the community.
- Internet for all - a computer room connected to the Internet with free access for all the community, where low income students can do their school research and works.
- Community Course for the Admission to the University - A course for low income students that come from public schools and wish to enter the University.
- University Scholarships - This project intends to help the low income students from the Admission Course that entered the University to stay there, by offering scholarships supported by people and organizations of the region. In two years, 51 students were benefited.
- "Toy rooms" - spaces where low income children can learn how to play with skill building toys with their mothers, using toys made of recycled materials by themselves with the help of their mothers. There are three "toy rooms", two in Alfenas and one in the town of Fama.
- Elders Home - to provide some options of leisure, learning to the elders in low income communities. There are 150 older persons that form 30 groups to spend some hours a day in that house, involved in activities with Physiotherapy and Psychology students, learning crafts and various other subjects.
- Info-lab - Fermento na Massa in a partnership with the Coffee Friends Project maintains the computers and a teacher at João Lourenço Municipal School, in Areado.
- Amigos pelo Café Day Care Center - AFM helps maintain a day care center in the rural zone of Monte Belo-MG, where the mothers who work at coffee farms can leave their children while they work.
